Why we should read the full Chaupai Sahib

The modern Gutka has an edited version of Gurbani, where the bani is cut down.
Many people have asked me, why the Chaupai Sahib is various lengths. I try my best to explain it here.

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh.

Thank you very much this was very informative. Could you please do some more of these video lectures on various subjects related to Dasam Bani. To a start, why is there so much focus on the avatars in Dasam Granth?

According to most sikhs scholars it was because Maharaj wanted to arouse the masses for war, but why to such an extent that Chaubis avatar makes up for 1/4 of the Dasam Granth? Do these avatars serve any relevance to us today, since avatars are not given that much importance in the early works of Gursobha, Bhai Nand Lal's various works, Bhai Gurdass vaars etc.

Kind regards

There isn't a focus on he avatars, but a focus on the battles they had against evil.........Dharama Yudh!

In Chaubis Avatars, we have mentioned of Holy beings of Shavites, Vaishnavites, Shaktatites, Budhist, Jains and Islamist.

In case of all we are told that God of Sikh rules all the holy beings mentioned here or those even not mentioned.

Two main reason by humble human mind while real reason Guru only knows.
1. Sikhs get embbeded with clear thought that real God is God of Sikhs.
2. Sikhs could motivate non Sikhs to join Sikhism by telling non Sikhs that real God of all faith's holy being is God of Sikhs.

Why are there so many differences in pronounciation in the additional pauria at the end of the chaupai sahib . Are you reading from a different version to mine, are there special pronounciation rules for dasam bani, or was it just mispronounced?

Gurfateh Singh,

From seeing your last post (2013), I presume you do not write on this blog, but I am hoping for you to answer my request.

My request being do you have or can you make a recording of the Full Sri Chaupai Sahib Paath?

I am not sure if you are familiar with the App Sundar Gutka, but I use their App and have noticed in their Sri Rahraas Sahib Paath they have the Full Sri Chaupai Sahib Paath. I am wondering if I can get this Paath in recording (clear and clean please) so that I can learn the Bani.

Thank you
